This is a beautiful vintage Whangee bamboo, headmaster’s cane from the reign of Edward VII.
It measures 91cm long, has a very tactile curved handle with a sterling silver band just below the grip. The silver band is assay marked as Birmingham 1901
This cane shows itself off perfectly with a beautiful patina achieved through age. There are some aged notches in the bamboo of the handle due probably to where the the sadistic pedagogue has added that little bit of extra pressure as the cane has come into contact with the recalcitrant derrière being chastised.
This is an outstanding item of discipline, light and flexible with the ability to leave its mark on any reluctant flesh it may direct towards.
